SHIKI STAYZ WELCOME
welcome TO A SLICE OF PARADISE

Being amongst nature and in the mountains is healing, and does wonders for your health, your wellbeing and your relationships.  Sometimes you have to disconnect, to reconnect.

We hope you find what you are looking for in this slice of paradise - Shiki Stays.

There are plenty of kangaroos, kookaburras and rabbits, but occasionally wombats, possums and deer.   Every few days we also have a heard of wild Brumbies that wander in and graze our paddocks for hours before returning to the bushland.   Hopefully they make an appearance during your stay.

TRAVEL INFO

There are two ways to travel to Cobungra, both are via The Great Alpine Road.

Travelling from East Gippsland you travel to Omeo and from The Alpine Shire you travel through Bright and over Mount Hotham.

We suggest that visitors to the region use the VicRoads App as well as VicEmergency to stay ahead of any travel alerts, road conditions or emergencies that may impact you on your travel path.

COBUNGRA RD TURN OFF

Please ensure you take the "Cobungra Rd" exit (at the letterboxes) off The Great Alpine Road.

Not the "fox crt" exit as it is heavily eroded.

WINTER TRAVEL (JUNE TO OCT)

If you are travelling over Mt Hotham during the declared snow season, please be advised that snow chains are legally required to be carried.   Always check road conditions with VicRoads.

Chains can be hired in Harrietville at "Hoys"

You are also required to pay gate entry into the resort if you are stopping.

Do so using the Mt Hotham resort website.

If you are just passing through and not stopping - there is no requirement to pay.  The entry and exit scanning system will track your movement through the resort.

ROADSIDE ASSIST

We recommend all travellers check their vehicle is covered by Roadside Assistance.
When travelling regionally it is a good time to check your coverage includes regional areas or at least understand the risks and costs involved if you experience a breakdown outside a tow zone.

PHONE SERVICE

As you get closer to Cobungra from either direction, mobile phone reception will be intermitent.    At the property, only Telstra networks get signal.  "
Plan ahead if you are not with Telstra.

Once checked in at the property you will be able to access free WiFi.

GROCERIES & MEDICATIONS

We are in an isolated location, and although there are nearby towns, there are limited late night services in the region.

From The Alpine Shire, in Bright a Woolworths store would be your last Supermarket and Terry White Pharmacy Chemist.
From East Gippsland Bairnsdale Woolworths, or in Omeo a small FoodWorks and Chemist.

There are small grocery stores at Mt Hotham and Dinner Plain that trade limited hours for some essentials, but are not heavily stocked.

Omeo Medical Centre & hospital has limited hours, so if you were to require a doctor or medication during your stay, options are limited.  If you take regular medication, please plan accordingly.

FUEL OR E-VEHICLE CHARGE

Nearest Petrol Station from the East Gippsland direction is in Omeo. They supply petrol, diesel and in winter they stock Alpine Diesel.

The station trades limited hours, but a 24 hour bowser is available in the centre of the main street for out of hours.

The nearest petrol stations from The Alpine Shire direction are in Bright, supplying petrol or diesel, and Alpine Diesel in winter.

Only one station trades late. Use Google search to keep upto date with current trading hours and plan your trip accordingly.

We Use PLUG SHARE to see up to date locations for vehicle chargers, and recommend you contact suppliers to understand details/timing and costs to charge at relevant sites.
